Iridium's new Iridium Certus 9704 compact design, low power designed and built for IoT. Designed and built for Iridium Messaging Transport® (IMT®) instead of Short Burst Data (SBD) enabling users to recieve and transmit data packets of up to 100 kB. A designed solution for hard-to-reach locations on a truly global basis over Iridium's true global network.
Iridium Certus 9704 modules is designed in a compact small form factor (31.5 x 42 x 3.8mm) and weighing in at 12 g. Coming in at 34% smaller than the Iridium 9603. Designed power efficent making it ideal for battery and/or solar powered applications. Sleek surface mounted with no cables or added parts. Ready for integrating in a variety of applications and devices. In addition of soon to market devices and hardware implementing the Iridium Certus 9704 modules.
The 9704 Module utilizes only IMT (Iridium Messaging Transport®) with no TCP/IP Transmission Options. IMT's superior message size enables and facilitates gateway data transmission, compressed images and audio. Link speed with the 9704 comes in at 4.8 Kbps. With message size up to 100 kB. IMT is a cloud-native, server-device messaging format that optimizes Iridium network capabilities to match increasing demand in industrial IoT (IIoT). This is delivered over Iridium's truly global satellite network.
